Appointed by Governor Johanns in 2004 to the Commission, Nejad is employed as a Senior Engineer by the Omaha Public Power District and has worked for OPPD for the past 24 years. " Having two young daughters, I strongly feel that I should dedicate some of my time and try to contribute to pressing women's issues. I believe in equality for all people regardless of gender, race, and religion. The Nebraska Commission on the Status of Women is the right place to be active in my beliefs," stated Nejad.

Nejad holds three college degrees in Nuclear Engineering, Economics and a Master’s degree in Management from the University of California, and the University of Redlands. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society.
