Bernadette Esposito

Bernadette Esposito of Omaha was appointed by Governor Heineman in 2006.

She was born on Philadelphia and lived with her family in Springfield, PA; Florissant, MO; and Wilmington, DE. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 1976 with a BS in Nursing, and in 1982 from the University of California- San Francisco with an MS in Critical Care Nursing.

She married Paul in 1977 and embarked for the next ten years upon the travels and adventures of being the wife of an active-duty Navy orthopedist; at the end of which time, they settled permanently in Omaha. Since Paul remained in the Navy's active reserves for another ten years, Bernadette and their three children experienced his deployment with a Fleet Hospital Unit in 1991 during the first Gulf War, Desert Storm.

Bernadette has been a very active volunteer. She served for many years on the Parent Boards at Creighton Prep (1997-2005) and Duchesne Academy (1998-2002), focusing particularly on developing programs pertaining to parental awareness of adolescent health and risk behaviors. She was a member of the Nebraska Federation of Catholic School Parents for 10 years, serving for 7 of those years as President. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of KVSS Catholic Radio since 2002. In May 2005, she completed a Master's degree in Theological Studies and is currently a member of the Archbishop's Adult Faith Formation Advisory Council.
